From the Manufacturer
A portable pocket-sized digital camera (3.7 x 2.05 x 0.88 inches), the Digimax L50 provides faster operational speed and a variety of functions. Even though the camera is small in size, Samsung still managed to ensure it included a 230,000-pixel, 2.5-inch LCD. The Digimax L50 features a 3x optical and 4x digital zoom that when combined, offer the shooter a combined zoom of 12x. The camera also provides 5x zoom during playback, to check the detail in captured images. With 16.7-million True Color representation and Wide View features, the LCD offers superior quality during image playback and shot composition.
MPEG-4 Movie mode
The L50 also offers powerful video capabilities as well, utilizing MPEG-4 high-compression, high-quality video format which can record for up to three to four times longer than traditional video formats used in other digital cameras. With a 256 MB memory card over an hour of great video can be recorded. The Digimax L50 can record in VGA (640 x 480) at 30 frames per second, to give smoother video and a bigger view of the movie on LCD and TV screens. Users can also take advantage of the camera's unique movie shooting functions, including a movie stabilizer, continuous video recording, improved video editing, and the ability to use the camera's 3x optical zoom while recording.
Movie stabilizer helps reduce camera shake by automatic detection and correction of lateral and vertical camera vibrations, while continuous video recording allows the shooter to pause and resume video recording at any time and merge multiple video files into one single file. Users can also save a selected part of a movie clip into a new file during playback and capture a still image during video playback.
Special effects
The Digimax L50 also features several special effect functions that take picture taking a step further. The special effect functions offered by the L50 are Color Effect, Highlight, Photo Frame, and Composite Shot. Color Effects include black and white, sepia, blue, red, green, and negative, Highlight enables the shooter to emphasize a subject by putting its surroundings into soft focus, Composite Shot allows you to divide a shooting scene into two to four segments and save them into a single file and Photo Frame allows the shooter to choose from nine different types of existing photo frames to add to an image.
Continuous shooting and Auto Exposure Bracketing
Continuous Shooting and Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB) functions are also supported by the L50. Shooters can use Continuous Shooting to shoot a fast-moving subject continuously and AEB to shoot a series of pictures with slightly varying exposures.
Editing
By using the built-in image editing functions of the Digimax L50, users can edit a picture in a variety of ways without the use of a PC. The L50's Trimming function allows users to cut an unwanted part of an image and save only the required part. When short of memory, the Resizing function lets you recover some of the memory space by resizing and saving images into a smaller size. The Rotating function allows users to rotate an image in the desired direction and save it.
